Welcome to Against the Grain Shoppe, your destination in downtown Southern Pines for exceptional, locally crafted goods. Nestled at 220 NW Broad Street, our shop is more than a store — it’s a celebration of North Carolina makers, creative spirit, and thoughtful design.

Founded in 2012 as a home‑based furniture and décor business, Against the Grain evolved into a full storefront in March 2019. Owner Ashley Tramontin has created a cherished hub for artisans, locals, and visitors alike.

The heart of our mission is a commitment to local and small businesses. Over 90% of our inventory is sourced from North Carolina based makers — many from Moore County. Ranging from local pottery + artwork to handturn pens + etched glassware, our inventory is always changing - so stop by, say hello and see what's new!

North Carolina is known for its beautiful forests, so what better way to celebrate your home state than with a beautiful maple wood ornament with engraved trees to add to the beauty of your NC Christmas? These ornaments are made from maple wood that is laser engraved with the forest and "Land of the Pines". Each ornament includes a black and white buffalo plaid ribbon and natural colored wood bead on top that is tied with a jute twine to hang. 

Each ornament is 5" wide and 3" tall to the top of the wood bead.

Made in Wake Forest, NC.
